Mary Poppins anyone?

In this day and age of drive-thur everything, fast food, flu shots, liquor stores and even wedding. It is funny how we have lost the fun of a drive-in movie.
Most old drive-in theaters are now used for Weekend flea markets.
But here in Vegas we have a huge five screen Drive-in that plays first run movies.

I hope they play a Tom and Jerry cartoon!
As we were driving down Rancho, we passed the huge screens.. bringing back memories of squeezing a shit load of kids into a station wagon.

How brave were Mom and Dad (They were responsible parents raising young kid, so back then they hadn't earned their teenage status.) to take all of us plus a few friends to the newest Disney release?

Passing out the re-used bread bags* full of popcorn.. not that microwaved stuff.. the kind you had to shake the giant pan on the burner in the kind of popcorn.
Tell me these don't bring you back to the 70's

Oh save me a cream soda!
I just remember it being fun... blankets on the luggage rack and laying on top of the car.  Trying to figure out what was being said on those awful little box speakers... Everyone on a sugar high.. taking in the smell of the night summer air. Happy that school was out and we were staying up late..

It probably wasn't that much fun for Mom and Dad, but I am grateful for those times. Our station wagons took a lot of abuse.  I really liked the ones that had a seat in the very pack that look out the rear window.

Baby seats and seat belts are for wussies!
*Other June creative uses for empty bread bags
-Over the feet for a waterproof barrier in the snow
-A place to put those used cloth diapers when out and about.

  1. -To put our tuna sandwiches and potato chips in so we could carry them out to the “field” for our picnics.

-To put our wet swimming suits in until we could get them home to hang them up to dry.
