Don't let the cat starve!

Never, ever let Bella run out of food. That is my creed.

I will hurt you!
That is how we got Dad into Target, told him that Bella was dangerously low of food. Fear of the feline wrath propelled him in.

Then it was off to the library! A lot of travel books! Spain and more Spain.

Just for those who haven't been to a Vegas library... sections are marked in neon... It's fun!

Then The Teenagers went to get some Euros.
I told them there was a easier way.

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
The weather is perfect. Flowers are blooming.
The weeds are keeping Dad on his knees pulling, weed whacking, and hitting them with Round-up.

Wrong kind of weeds.
Saturday The Teenagers spent time with Aunt Kris, who was in town. Catching up on all the Utah gossip.
I went off exploring with my company. We checked out a little ghost town called Nelson. I don't know what it really was, kind of a junk yard meets a Antiques Road Show rejects.

These cactus attack.. and hurt, and sting and make you cry.

Thanks June and Bob for the use of the Infiniti and the full tank of gas that cost a bit more than this. The Teenagers Rock!
I posted all the pictures on my Face Book.. It really was a eclectic mix of everything. I think Mike would love all the cars hanging around.

Distractions

So I was hanging out, nose in a book.  Mom at the computer, on the phone with Topher.
(They are looking at rooms in Madrid) I hear her squeal like a school girl.
"Oh, I like that apartment.. Can I have the Princess room with the canopy bed?"

I picture this in my head.
I can't help think to myself. "Thank God mirrors above the bed were not mentioned."

I wasn't thinking kinky.. I'm not some pervert.
I was thinking of Frida Kahlo and her disturbing self portraits that she used the mirror above her bed for.. Sheesh.

Uni brows, lady mustaches and monkeys are a little freaky!

Getting ready for Spain and the beautiful spring weather have been great distractions..

Tourist beware!

An American touring Spain stopped at a local restaurant following a day of sightseeing.

While sipping his sangria, he noticed a sizzling, scrumptious looking platter being served at the next table. Not only did it look good, the smell was wonderful. He asked the waiter, "What is that you just served?"

The waiter replied, " Ah senor, you have excellent taste! Those are bulls testicles from the bull fight this morning. A delicacy!"

The American, though momentarily daunted, said, "What the hell, I'm on vacation! Bring me an order!"

The waiter replied, "I am so sorry senor. There is only one serving per day because there is only one bull fight each morning. If you come early tomorrow and place your order, we will be sure to save you this delicacy!"

The next morning, the American returned, placed his order, and then that evening he was served the one and only special delicacy of the day.

After a few bites, and inspecting the contents of his platter, he called to the waiter and said, "These are delicious, but they are much, much smaller than the ones I saw you serve yesterday!"

The waiter shrugged his shoulders and replied, "Si senor. Sometimes the bull wins."

All is quiet in the Udell house

It's been a couple of quiet days.. Not a bad thing, no throwing up. No tragic accidents.
The Teenagers have been researching Spain, trying to find a place to stay. Sights they want to see.

Mind House, Barcelona

And really how can one even leave the house??? What if we miss some of the excitement going on in the world!

Fired!

Still waiting for my invite.

It was NASCAR weekend here in Vegas!
(I'm not sure what that means?)
Then there are all those flyer's we are making.. we have to fight the good fight and stop Harry Reid!

He can't really ban legalized prostitution can he?

Getting out of the house

Dad has been taking it easy, he wants to make sure he is well rested for their trip to Spain.
Cabin fever has set in just a little. This morning I looked online for a little something to do, get out of the house.
Ah, just the thing a swap meet. Music, food, and junk for sale.

Hey, every Monday on The Antiques Road show someone has a item they bought for a dollar at a flea market that is worth thousands. How bad can it be..

So armed with Purell, off we go.
As it turns out it was good practice for their trip. A huge crowd and everything in Spanish!

Oh this is going to be good! Tigger and shower caddies in the same booth!

I won't repeat what Dad said about these.

Roasting peanuts.. just saying doesn't look up to health department code.

A Little creepy.

Roasting peppers. Not so yum.

Religious art in all its foil finish glory!

The fun ends when the ambulance arrives.
It was fun, actually. It was a warm but cloudy day.. The music was loud and obnoxious, but I guess that is how you sell stolen discount wares!

In 1937

The year is 1937 and you can buy a nice new car for a little over a $1000.. big bucks!

I will take two please!
 Spam hits the markets!

With Velveeta.. Oh Yeah!

The horrors of petting are exposed.

"Petting is dangerous, let's just do it"

And My Dad was born!  Happy Birthday Dad!

The nice flowers that Marti sent today.

He is feeling better every day. Getting excited about their trip to Spain.. Topher, Josh, Mike and Jake are going with them..

Thursday, March 3, 2011

Some might think of March as time to celebrate St Patricks day.. Around here it is Birthday Month!

Mom, Dad and most the kids have Birthdays in March... The kids that were planned that is. I was born in August!

Today is Moms Big day.. a mile stone 70!

This is her in 1947.
 And now????

Amazing what 7 kids and 52 years of marriage can do. Sad.

Happy Birthday Mom, I love you!

Tomorrow is Dads day.

Funny Birthday Ecard: I'm not making any age-related jokes because I genuinely feel bad about how old you are.

Getting ready

Mom booked the flights to Spain.. it's a go!
Dad is still a little funky today, but actually taking it easy.
Marti told him of some magic elixir with apple cider vinegar and honey.. I think they are stirring the cauldron now.

Yummy!
Mom and I planted all morning.. starting to look good, can't wait for the flowers to start blooming.

Since Dad was resting, Bella took over as supervisor.

She is watering the new pear tree in her own "special" way.

We picked these up today, one can't have enough flowers!

I don't think she is impressed.
Hey Bella, quit peeing on everything I stick in the ground.... Thank You!

Symptoms

Aches, moodiness, loss of appetite, tired, can't sleep.. Overall feeling that there is a small tribe of pygmies dancing on your guts, then in your head.. is it??????

If it were only so easy.
Nope.. It's Dad and his recovery from the stent being put in. He is having a hard time keeping food down. It is making him a little anxious.
But still he refuses to give in. Yesterday he couldn't stand it, as Mom an I were planting rose bushes. He had to go out and supervise.. pull some weeds, as he let us dig some holes in the hard ground.

It's more like cement than dirt.
Mom told him that he is going to take it easy today.. eat small meals and let Nurse June take care of him.

I bet he is missing Nurse Flirty Pants right now!
