Happy Valentines day everyone!

Still playing host.

The teenagers are playing hosts again this weekend. Just not on such a large scale as last weekends invasion.
Dads old buddy Arvin Rudd and his wife Helen are in from AZ.
I haven't seen much of them.. I don't want to pass on any lingering typhoid germs..


 Makes me wonder what they are doing over there in the Sutter Home?

Free Chocolate

The area casinos are doing this big promotion. "We Love Locals" . Every night this month they are giving away a car and other cash prizes..

Eh, worth a shot if you are there anyway, chances are slim enough that I am not making a special trip down for the drawing.  Been too sick to care anyway.

But today.... Oh today was free Valentine Day Chocolate day! 

Thirteen pieces of free chocolate.... but wait there's more! The teenagers and I all get a free box from the  Fiesta and The Santa Fe.
10 o'clock this morning June is calling me.. "We have to get our prizes.. are you ready? Let's go!"

The Cold Medicines have me high, I am in a happy place. I agree.. Why not? (Maybe because I don't really love chocolate?)

 We get there.. It's early for a weekend.. The parking lot is full... Packed.. Seniors are shuffling in, replacing those shuffling out... Heart shaped red boxes clutched to their chests.. 

I know this is not going to be pretty... Oh God, I hate lines..

The line was long... very long.. But true to their advertising The Fiesta does love the locals and rather than check ID's, slide player cards and make us all wait.. they just had a candy frenzy and started handing that shit out by the box full!

One down.. Half the day not lost, still buzzed on the Dayquil.. I thought I might throw a few bucks into a slot machine..

Nope! That wasn't part of the plan.





Bye Slot machines, and smoky Fiesta, June says we need to get to the Santa Fe!

 

Out of town friends coming.. we need to be close to home if they call.. Okay, I am starting to realize that this is a well coordinated operation.. 6 free boxes of candy, needs a plan..

 

Thankfully the Santa Fe already had their candy free for all... or they just never had any lines..  

A fist full of confectionery in no time!

Why does it feel so good to get something for nothing?

I got to play a little and no, I did not win..

 

Because I have a curious mind..

So I was thinking... I wonder what sort of quack products are out there.. What kind of scum are willing to prey on the sick and desperate to make a buck?

So this cynical soul Googled it up! It didn't take long to spend some serious money on bull shit.


This also brings luck, fortune and heals whatever scurvy last nights date brought on..



This doesn't include the laptop you see there.. just some probes and a DVD that will analyse everything from your hair to your KFC dinner...  Worth almost 3 grand I say.



I'm just thinking if the Ethiopians were so good at healing?   Sorry... can't get the image of starving fly ridden children out of my head..




What is eggplant? $1.50 a pound at the market?  Were these eggplants grown by rare chimps in a magical garden?

I want to thank everyone for coming out.. for being the kids that Dad is always bragging about. I know the teenagers had a great time.. they are still coming down from the high.
The house is quiet and Bella just wanders around looking for the crazy people...
I am proud to have such a fun and loving family... 

Feeling free to live life.

Dad has chose not to poison himself with Chemo and Radiation.. so now he says he feels free.. No Doctor appointments.. no feeling queasy sick as he lives the rest of his life.. 

It has been a great weekend.. Tons of laughs and lots of shenanigans..  A good time!

 The hospital bills came in.. for what it cost to stay at the Spa and Torture Resort know as Scummerlin Hospital you could buy lots of nice things..

I promise not to go on some ugly rant about health care and cost... Just saying, maybe there is a wee bit of a problem.

The last four months between the doctors, tests and hospital stay, it's added up to over $250,000.00
at that rate we are talking a Million dollars in a years time... Just to be sick. No chemo, no hospice... just to be diagnosed and told sorry.
